"...let yourself feel something more for me."
OK TIME FOR SOME CONTEXT
If you've been following my drawings here lately, then you know I watch My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. One of the things I check either every day or every other day or so is Equestria Daily
. Occasionally, they will highlight pony fanfiction and most of it I... really don't pay attention to.
Occasionally, something will catch my eye, and I'll read it. One of the stories that caught my eye one day was The Incredibly Dense Mind of Rainbow Dash
. I've never really been terribly interested in shipping
, but the story was well written, funny, and had lots of clever dialogue.
The author, Chengar Qordath
, later announced the start of a "semi-sequel-follow-up-side-story" called The Life and Times of a Winning Pony
that focused on two background ponies - Cloud Kicker and Blossomforth - and, since both of those characters have no real personalities in the show, they were given some. And somehow, Cloud Kicker was turned into some weird pony-hybrid of Charlie Sheen and Casanova, who tosses around the word "bang" like a comma.
7 chapters and much hilarious situations and surprisingly serious character development later, and I found myself completely engrossed in a story with characters that I had grown a legitimate attachment to. The last scene of the latest chapter (The Pony Who is Addicted to Winning
) in particular struck quite a chord. I don't really want to bore everyone with the particulars of the details of WHY it struck a chord, because nobody really wants to hear me bitterly recount my personal life.
Point is, that scene stuck in my head, and would not be satisfied until I drew it. So, the other night (while very, VERY drunk) I drew this: [link]
Soon as I sobered up, I realized the legs and the pose and generally most everything about it was all wrong.
So I fixed it.
And here we are.
I'm not sure what this means - I've just drawn fanart depicting a romantic scene in a fanfiction between two background characters in a show about ponies.
My life must have taken a very strange turn somewhere...
